Atlas by zone

Post by Muridin » Thu Nov 27, 2008 1:15 am

No doubt this idea has been hashed out numerous times, but i would really like to see Atlas have detailed maps of each zone for each continent, showing Npc's and such. I mainly would like to see atlas quest to have zone by zone info for quests. Such as Npc's, best known areas for quest items etc.

There was/is an AtlasWorld plugin that has zone maps. As for every quest in the game, AtlasQuest would take up MASSIVE MASSIVE MASSIVE amounts of memory, not to mention the effort of porting all that stuff into AtlasQuest and translating it. Better off with Questhelper I think.

As far as I can understand this is out of scope for Atlas.

As an addon author you always need to make sure people still understand what your mod is all about and differentiate your addon from others.
Also if there is already an addon that does the job its not worth the time and effort.

I've found Lightheaded, TomTom, QuestHelper and TourGuide to be excellent addons for this sort of thing.

Lightheaded: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7017.html
TomTom: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7032.html
TourGuide: http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addo ... guide.aspx
QuestHelper: http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addo ... elper.aspx

I agree with the others, that this would be well out of the scope for the Atlas addons.

Don't worry. I have no plans to increase the scope of Atlas.
