Instance levels next to names in drop-down

Post by Mogrizzle » Sat Mar 14, 2009 3:08 pm

Hey hey!

I was just thinking today how great it would be if there was the lowest level to get gear/to enter right next to the instance names in the drop down menu. I don't know if you prefer to have the lowest level to enter the instance, but I like to know what instances have gear at what levels. As Atlas stands now, it shows the level requirements when you click the instance (like 71-74) etc, but I always look at the gear to see what level req is on those to determine if I'm high enough for it.

So an instance is lvl 71 to enter but lvl 73 or so to wear the gear.

Also, the atlas map level ranges are out of date, at least for the pre-bc maps that they tweaked.

So I'm thinking:

Maraudon: 48

Or have different display options to have it say like "Maraudon: 44-48" or "Maraudon: 48"

I don't know how hard it would be to implement something that would take your current level into consideration and color code the instance names accordingly like in the quest log.

Thanks for reading!

GREAT WORK! ^^

I like both of these ideas:
- color coding instance names
- level display in dropdown

What should the color categories be?

I think he meant that you use some kind of blizz interface code that will see what level 'you' are and then color code the instance levels to fit your level. Grey - very low, green - low, orange - your level, red - a much higher than you instance level
I however, have no idea if its possible to do that with Atlas, but im sure you do :)

hmm...probably not too easy, I'd rather suggest to improve the sections we've now.

Try below codes from FastQuest Classic:

Code: Select all

function FastQuest_GetDiffColor(level)
	local lDiff = level - UnitLevel("player");
	if (lDiff >= 0) then
		for i= 1.00, 0.10, -0.10 do
			color = {r = 1.00, g = i, b = 0.00};
			if ((i/0.10)==(10-lDiff)) then return color; end
		end
	elseif ( -lDiff < GetQuestGreenRange() ) then
		for i= 0.90, 0.10, -0.10 do
			color = {r = i, g = 1.00, b = 0.00};
			if ((9-i/0.10)==(-1*lDiff)) then return color; end
		end
	elseif ( -lDiff == GetQuestGreenRange() ) then
		color = {r = 0.50, g = 1.00, b = 0.50};
	else
		color = {r = 0.75, g = 0.75, b = 0.75};
	end
	return color;
end
I do like the color setting made by FastQuest.

An old enhancement request, but I would like to investigate it a little bit to see if it worth to add into Atlas.

Maybe it's easier to change the order of the instances ? instead of A -> Z to 10 -> 85 ?

means to add one new soring rule to sort by level range or mini-level?

or to integrate it in the existing filters, probably most people using the expansion-filter which is kind of level-filter anyway.

Actually we already have a Sort By Levels feature, but that's to sort all dungeons by levels.
