AtlasLoot d/c's quick question

Post by Syphirx » Fri Nov 30, 2007 8:38 am

what makes you get d/c'd when lookin at the "unsafe" loot on AtlasLoot?
is it a GM? the game? the server? or the add-on?

An item is unsafe when -your- server hasn't seen it.
Since some patch ago Blizzard made it unpossible to link items which haven't droped on your server (for their reasons), when you try to link an item like that the server disconnects you.

Please don't answer here, instead use the link provided above.
Atlasloot and Atlas are NOT the same. Atlasloot is a plugin for Atlas but we have our own team/forum/svn etc.

Actually, the disconnection reason recently changed (according to slouken, one of the Blizz devs).

From 1.10 to patch 2.2, you got definately disconnected if the item was not on your server or your battleground, sometimes disconnected if the item was not on your server but available somewhere in your battlegroup and everything else was safe. The disconnections by the server were to stop the rampant problem of item spoofing prior to 1.10.

Since patch 2.2, IN THEORY you should only get disconnected for flooding the server with too many queries for item information in a short space of time. Since Blizzard don't publicise thresholds for flooding, it is hard to know how many times is too many.

The safe way to use AtlasLoot is if you get disconnected, type '/atlasloot reset' and wait a minute or two before assaulting the server with item info requests again.
