Ok... I logged on a Alliance character to check those new Flight points...

First, nothing for the Alliance at the Bulwark... The NPC's and the Flight Master there are hostile to me.... But they don't attack... I checked around in case there would be another Flight Master dedicated to the Alliance, but I have found none.

Next, at Thondroril River :

Flight Master : Frax Bucketdrop
2 connections : Light's Hope Chapel and Chillwind Camp.

I can also confirm that Aerie Peak and Ironforge are not directly connected to Thondroril River. Both are transiting by Chillwind Camp to get there.

Fantastic, thanks so much!

If you can, take a quick look and see if any of the alliance FP maps need any new connections or any existing connections removed. If not, no worries. :)

Hello again...

Just did a sweep of the Eastern Kingdoms on my alliance toon... Found 2 things... 1 of those is pretty odd...

First, there is a connection between Thorium Point, Searing Gorge and Thelsamar, Loch Modan...

Second... You have a connection on the map between Ironforge, Dun Morogh and Sun's Reach, Isle of Quel'Danas... That is right... BUT IT IS A ONE WAY TICKET FROM IF to SUN'S REACH... The reverse trip from Sun's Reach toward IF is transiting by Light's Hope Chapel.

I'll try to finish the rest of the world by Saturday night....

I now understand the "weird" part of the one way ticket from IF to Sun's Reach... Yesterday, I started way south in the Eastern Kingdom and went up toward the north, stopping at each FP to check where they were connecting. I never did tried the path IF ---> Sun's Reach... I only saw that it existed. The same, when I finally arrived at Sun's Reach, I saw that there was no direct connection to IF. I went back to IF to investigate this odd behavior...

When you hop on the flying mount at IF to go at Sun's Reach, you will fly toward IF's exit. But at the very moment, your mount will leave IF, the game will port you all the way up, next to the Isle of Quel'Danas, in the North Sea, by using the same kind of mechanism used to cross from the Eastern Plaguelands to the Ghostlands. You'll see briefly the same screen you usually see when you enter an instance, but in this case it is only used to make the port to Sun's Reach... It's very fast between the 2 points because you don't have to suffer the whole travel time induced by the great distance.

But when you want to come back toward the continent... you can only use the regular transport through the FP's... The same "porting" mechanism does not exist from Sun's Reach to IF.

Now... Kalimdor...

Think it would be appropriate to leave the IF <--> Sun's Reach connection as-is on the map?

All changes so far made in r816.

Keeping this as "needs info" for now since there may be changes to Outland or Northrend.

Damn... I hate weirdness when I can't at least find a good explanation to it...

Outland... Found 3 things... and again, another 1 way flight. Do we have such a thing on horde side... ?? Dynaletik, Have you encountered such a thing on our FP's (my main is an undead warlock) ? I don't think I would have time to check this before the next release... but I intend to find out.

1 new connection

Telredor, Zangarmarsh to Toshley's Station, Blade's Edge Mountains

1 deletion

The Dark Portal, Hellfire Peninsula to Shattrath City, Terokkar Forest

The odd one

You can only fly from The Dark Portal, Hellfire Peninsula toward Temple of Telhamat, Hellfire Peninsula. For some obscure reason, you will transit by Honor Hold if you want to go back to the Dark Portal. This time, I can't find any explanation to this behavior apart from being either a bug or a path Blizz might have forgotten to code in...

Now, going Northrend... I'm not expecting to find something there since this is the most recent content... but will check it nonetheless...

Final stop... Northrend...

I was expecting nothing... but found 2 new connections...

Crusaders' Pinnacle, Icecrown to Death's Rise, Icecrown
Wintergarde Keep, Dragonblight to Star's Rest, Dragonblight

Good luck Dan when drawing the 2nd one... There is not much space left to trace that one the map...

Okay, for Horde Northrend map, 35 and 38 should be connected, Crusaders' Pinnacle and Death's Rise like for alliance.

And now we're goin' crazy on Horde side, too!
Outland: From 1 you can directly fly to 4, but not the way back, it will send you via Thrallmar (2).
So make one way flight path with arrows from 1 to 4?

Hmmm... Seeing that you have the same scheme between the Dark Portal and the secondary town of Hellfire that I have found on alliance side leads me to think that it might have been coded like this on purpose by Blizz...

Also, I don't think you will find the same one way flight from a horde capital to Sun's Reach... If I remember right, when they introduced Quel'Danas, they had to devise a faster way to connect an alliance capital to the Isle because the horde was controlling most of the northern parts of the 2 continents. It was only a bird hop for us from Silvermoon.

You are right, I just checked to fly from UC to The isle and it takes the normal route. No direct connection. :)
