DO NOT RUN an executable called Atlas

Post by Dan Gilbert » Fri Mar 16, 2007 6:53 pm

If you download something called Atlas that contains an executable, DO NOT RUN IT.

Atlas is a pure addon, which means there is NO executable component. It has--and never will--contain one. If you ever find an unauthorized distribution of Atlas that contains an executable, it's probably a keylogger or trojan. Please inform me immediately.

......... a exacutable is a .exe file, the ones u run to play/instal things, and about the .zip

open it up in winzip or the XP zip tool
copy the folder to your addons folder, c:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns (by default)

I think somebody should create a fool-proof tutorial for installing Atlas including how to find out where you installed WoW, installing WinZip, unzipping correctly, etc. This would eliminate probably half of the questions Dan gets.

That doesn't include how to unzip files besides a reference to WinZip.

Pfff even with a keylogger I would run the addon just for fun. The moral of this is : Buy a MAC! :D
