Migrate to GitHub

Post by TrAsHeR » Thu Oct 06, 2016 2:25 pm

Hello

Why didn't you go to GitHub to manage Atlas ?

More simple for translation. :D

Hi TrAsHeR, good to hear from you.
Migrate to cursoeforge make it easier for auto-packaging.

Though I would like to learn about the easier translation if migrating to GitHub.

With curseforge, if you feel it's easier to edit the localization files directly, then there are a few changes:
For development, some keyword replacement can be added so that it would affect the official release.
For example, you can see in the fr file, it shows something like below:

Code: Select all

if L then
[email protected](locale="frFR", format="lua_additive_table")@
[email protected]@
--************************************************
-- Zone Names, Acronyms, and Common Strings
--************************************************
	--Classic Acronyms
	L["AQ"] = "AQ"; -- Ahn'Qiraj
	L["AQ10"] = "AQ10"; -- Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj, Ruines d'Ahn'Qiraj
	L["AQ40"] = "AQ40"; -- Temple of Ahn'Qiraj, Temple d'Ahn'Qiraj
....
[email protected]@
end
The "do-not-package" and "end-do-not-package" enclose the section for the development changes.
And during the packaging stage, it will read from curseforge's database to pull out the translation.
So you will need to insert or import the translation so that the changes will be included.

I think you can edit files directly, as on GitHub is much better. and everyone can participate in the development of the addon.

For you see, you're the leader.

I see your point. You can also edit the files directly even I migrated to CurseForge. I didn't lock the repository. The difference would be some other player who is less familiar with SVN might use CurseForge's localization interface to contribute the translation, so we will need to make sure these are in sync.

Ok ok i understand

I think GIT is best than SVN.

But, i will work with SVN :°

You'll have to think about my proposal anyway.

You can see an example with BigWigs : https://github.com/BigWigsMods/BigWigs
